"Look what I made!", that's what I wanted to say to my family after a day at the Ladies Learning Code workshop on Photoshop and Design. It was fun learning some new stuff and making new friends.
Check out the organization Ladies Learning Code (http://www.ladieslearningcode.com) as they promote and popularize learning to code here in Toronto. I recently attended their largest event (over 100 ladies learning) where I learned about Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. The Ladies Learning Code would like to educate us all (ladies and men) with current technology and tools. This course was reasonably priced, well organized, and sold out. The day was organized into 4 sessions and each session accomplished a specific task. The learning arrangement was terrific because they brought together the experts with the inexperienced students. The low ratio of students to mentors enables fun and productive learning. You can ask lots of questions until you understand. When you complete something, you feel empowered to explore more. Fantastic job ladies!
Luckily the venue supplied the computers, otherwise I would be stuck because my laptop runs Ubuntu and the tools on it are Gimp and Inkscape. Check the venue and requirements when you sign up, sometimes you need to bring your own laptop setup.
Check out the Ladies Learning Code. If you're an expert you can volunteer to help mentor or be an instructor. If you're looking to learn something, check out their events. I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience.
P.S. I admit that I have used Photoshop before but I'm not an expert, but I learned a few things about Adobe tools that I don't regularly use.
