His refusal to speak about it has me thinking he suffers from PTSD as many ex-servicemen do, and the fighting is his outlet. the acting is amazing throughout especially tom hardy as the badass tommy. The story has been told before as in Rocky or most recently THe Fighter, however, this rises above them all in my view and is genuinely moving,tense,exciting and action packed with some great fight scenes that are extremely well choreographed and filmed. I watch a lot of movies, I'd say roughly 12-15 a week. Tom Hardy is fantastic and reminds me of Marlon Brando with his 'moody' looks and penetrating stares. Hardy and Edgarton are phenomenal. Domination was always being questioned and proven.
